First Phone: Keeping Children Safe Online is a resource package including a video and educational toolkit around staying safe online that has been created for a primary audience of nine- to 11-year-olds. The package had been co-produced with children and young people, teachers and educational representatives across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The film is available in virtual reality, and as a 2D version which is included above.
The toolkit accompanies the videos and includes six sessions around the following themes:
- Lesson 1: Understanding social media (Learning Objective: To learn what social media is and that everyone’s social media content is different).
- Lesson 2: Being aware online (Learning Objective: To consider the risks on social media and how to keep safe online and reduce these risks).
- Lesson 3: Cyberbullying (Learning Objective: To understand what cyberbullying behaviour is and the different ways people can be cyberbullied).
- Lesson 4: Asking for help (Learning Objective: To understand that it is good to ask for help and to learn who our trusted adults are).
- Lesson 5: Helping others (Learning Objective: To learn what a bystander is and how we can be safe active bystanders and help others).
- Lesson 6: Staying safe online (Learning Objective: To know how to keep ourselves and others safe and happy online).
